There are different kinds of incontinence: stress incontinence, overactive bladder or both

STRESS INCONTINENCE

It occurs when a sudden hypertension of the abdomen occurs as when we sneeze or cough and the urethra is not able to close either by weakness of the pelvic floor or damage of the urethra sphincter.

The main causes are pelvic floor damage during childbirth, obesity or pregnancy, hysterectomy, neurological conditions or certain medications

 How can I help you?

In order to strengthen your pelvic floor, awareness of this muscle is necessary. To do this, I will explain patterns  and how your pelvic floor works. Then I will use a manual technique which will help you contract it effectively. The goal will be to strengthen, we will use biofeedback and electrostimulation with a vaginal probe, vaginal cones and a program of exercises adapted to your problem. The number of sessions varies for each woman, but sessions and the exercise program must be continued for a minimum of 3 months.

OVERACTIVE BLADDER

Frequent and urgent needs are due to untimely contractions of the bladder muscle. This occurs when you drink too much caffeine or alcohol, suffering from chronic constipation, not drinking enough water, taking certain medication or if suffering from neurological conditions.

The consequences in the long term can cause weakness of the pelvic floor, a bladder less effective and the stress affecting the person can become debilitating.

Your doctor may suggest drugs calming bladder if rehabilitation has failed

How can I help you?

The rehabilitation will be bladder training including the use of a bladder diary, learning relaxation of the pelvic floor exercises, give you advice to manage your stress and emergencies. The use of a vaginal probe with a biofeedback system will help you take conscience of either contraction or relaxation of your pelvic floor. You will need between 6 and 10 sessions of rehabilitation
